The term 'Molon Labe!' comes from a story between King Leonidas of Sparta and the Persian King Xerxes, at the Battle of Thermopylae. When the Persian king demanded that Leonidas and the 300 Spartans and Thespians (there were 900 of them there too!) lay down their weapons and surrender, it is said that King Leonidas and others shouted back 'Molon Labe!' - 'Come and get them!'. This could also have applied to the country of Sparta itself - 'Come and get it!'
Either way, it was a phrase of defiance that inspired the rest of the Greeks in the war against Persia, as well as warriors around the world ever since. Never Surrender!
